Walleye (Sander Vitreus) Stocked in Voorheis Lake
Posted on Oct 16, 2019
500 walleye fingerlings (6"-8") were relocated to Voorheis Lake from Imlay City Fish Farm on October 16, 2019. The disease-free fish were stocked under an approved DNR permit. It will take approximately 2 years for the walleye to reach the 15" length required for legal removal. If any walleye are caught, please treat them gently and return them quickly to the water. As a reminder for all fishing, the use of circle hooks and/or barbless hooks (barbs removed by grinding or squeezed flat) greatly reduce injury to hooked fish. Skilled fishermen will not miss many catches using barbless hooks.
